Coffee, Refreshments, and Conversations: Elder Law Seminar - Creating A Strong Estate Plan to Protect Your Family and Finances

10:00 am - 11:30 am

Location: Atrium Cost: Free, Donations Welcome * Pre-registration required.

Whether you are a planner or a procrastinator, having a strong and up-to-date estate plan should be at the top of your to-do list. In addition to providing the peace of mind of knowing your final wishes will be legally documented, an estate plan provides a roadmap for your loved ones to know how to care for you if you are no longer able to care for yourself and/or your financial and legal affairs.

In this session, you’ll learn about important estate planning documents like Wills, powers of attorney, advance directives, and trusts, and the purpose and powers included in each. Furthermore, we’ll examine what happens if you don’t have a Will when you pass away, how your estate gets divided amongst your heirs, who can pay your bills if you can’t, how to choose your power of attorney and health care agents, and some common estate planning mistakes that you will want to avoid. Even if you have already created an estate plan, discover when and if you should have your existing documents reviewed and updated.

Upon meeting Attorney Jeanne Di Minno, you’ll quickly discover that one of her greatest strengths lies in her ability to connect with her clients in a way that enables them to understand tricky legalese with empathy and ease. With Jeanne’s thorough communication skills, patience, and compassion, you will walk away understanding your paperwork and your options, as she is simply not a “just sign here” person.
Also, a self-proclaimed “people-person”, Jeanne truly enjoys helping people, and has an extensive varied background in law that includes real estate, family law, alternative dispute resolution, and working in the criminal court. These experiences, along with Jeanne’s knowledge of other areas of law, give her a unique perspective and have helped her be able to literally explain anything to anyone!
Outside of the office, Jeanne, who would describe herself as a “foodie,” enjoys gardening and trying out new restaurants with her husband. She is also an animal lover who loves to rescue animals. In fact, Jeanne, and her very patient husband, currently have 3 dogs and 2 cats!
