Come join the Torrington Area Health District every Thursday from 9am-10am in the Community Room and learn how to live a healthier lifestyle in order to prevent type 2 diabetes.
The main goals of this program are for the participants to:
Lose 5-7% of your starting body weight
Work up to 150 minutes of physical activity per week
Learn how to eat healthy by tracking daily caloric and fat intake
Cut their risk for developing type 2 diabetes in half
How is the program set up?
Participants will attend 1-hour sessions once per week for 16 sessions and then 1-2 times per month over the course of one year
Group sessions will include discussions about:
Stress management
Coping with food triggers
Social pressure
Eating away from home
Managing negative thoughts
