Dr. Kevin Manning, Ph.D. is a neuropsychologist and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UConn Health in Farmington. Twice a week he can be found at Brandywine Living Litchfield where he educates patients and families on the early signs of dementia and works with residents on ways to stay cognitively fit. His talk will focus on lifestyle approaches to maximizing cognitive health and staving off dementia. He will begin by discussing signs of normal aging vs. warning signs of dementia and appropriate steps to follow if you or a family member have concerns over memory and thinking. He will then cover recommendations for staying cognitively fit and maximizing brain health, and also discuss an ongoing research study on cognitive fitness conducted funded by the National Institute of Health and supported by the Community Center. This study is investigating whether six weeks of daily cognitive fitness activities can improve cognition and mood in adults 60 and older. Please join us for what is sure to be an interesting talk!
