SUMMARY:Culturally Curious Art Lecture Series: Wide Open Spaces: Great Landscapes in Art
DESCRIPTION:Wide Open Spaces: Great Landscapes in Art\nJourney through the evolving relationship between artists and the natural world as landscape painting transformed from mere background decoration to one of art’s most profound and expressive genres across cultures and centuries. From the serene classical landscapes of Claude Lorrain and the dramatic Dutch Golden Age skies of Jacob van Ruisdael\, to the revolutionary plein air techniques of the Impressionists and the bold American wilderness visions of the Hudson River School\, this program traces how different artistic traditions have interpreted and reimagined the land around us. What drives artists to stand before mountains\, fields\, and forests\, attempting to capture not just their appearance but their very essence and emotional resonance? Discover how the simple act of painting the world outside our windows has become a profound meditation on place\, memory\, climate\, and our ever-changing connection to the earth itself. \n  \nAbout the presenter:\nJane Oneail is the founder of Culturally Curious\, a company that curates and presents art appreciation programs. Jane holds a master’s in Art History from Boston University and a master’s in Education from Harvard University. Born and raised in NH\, she has worked at some of the state’s most esteemed cultural institutions\, including the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen\, where she served as Executive Director\, and the Currier Museum of Art\, where she held the role of Senior Educator. Jane has also taught at the college level for more than a decade\, most recently at Southern New Hampshire University. \nFor more information visit: iamculturallycurious.com \nDonations welcome at door \n* Pre-registration is advised – Click Here to Register
