SUMMARY:Beethoven's "Eroica" by David Stein
DESCRIPTION:Beethoven’s third symphony was the “Eroica\,” a huge\, marvelous and joyful expression of heroism and hope. It was written by the young composer during wartime as he emerged from an earlier state of despair. His Fifth Symphony is more famous perhaps\, but the “Eroica” was the most groundbreaking and influential. In fact\, it has been called by many conductors the greatest of all symphonies; it opened new realms of human imagination and became the foundation-stone for the Romantic century of Schumann\, Brahms and Mahler. In this session we will explore the first movement\, a “hero’s journey” in music\, to hear how it depicts formidable obstacles bravely overcome\, and how Beethoven unifies a vast range of emotion and subjective experience and draws the listener in to participate in the adventure. \nFREE/donations welcome \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:Culturally Curious Art Lecture Series: The Swirling World of Art Nouveau
DESCRIPTION:Nov. 12: The Swirling World of Art Nouveau\nHave you ever been captivated by the sinuous curves and organic forms of Art Nouveau? This enchanting artistic movement\, which flourished from the 1890s to the 1910s\, revolutionized visual arts and architecture with its emphasis on natural shapes\, flowing lines\, and decorative elegance. At the forefront of this style was Alphonse\nMucha\, a Czech artist whose iconic posters and illustrations epitomized the grace and beauty of Art Nouveau. This program explores the key characteristics of Art Nouveau and delves into Mucha’s masterful works\, uncovering how his distinctive style influenced not only graphic design but also the architecture and interior decor of the era. \nAbout the presenter:\nJane Oneail is a sought-after speaker\, educator\, and independent art historian. Jane curates and delivers engaging art appreciation programs through her company Culturally Curious\, founded in 2017. Jane holds a master’s in Art History from Boston University and a master’s in Education from Harvard University. Born and raised in NH\, she has worked at some of the state’s most esteemed cultural institutions\, including the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen\, where she served as Executive Director\, and the Currier Museum of Art\, where she held the role of Senior Educator. Jane has also taught at the college level for more than a decade\, most recently at Southern New Hampshire University. \nFor more information visit: iamculturallycurious.com \nDonations welcome at door.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:Investment Group
DESCRIPTION:Bring your questions and concerns to the Litchfield Investing Group meeting on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00PM. \nInvesting does not need to be complex or uncertain. Learn to manage your own investments whether you have $1\,000 or $1\,000\,000 using publicly available computerized investing methods for a fraction of the cost of a professional money manager with returns consistently better than the S&P 500 or the Aggregate Bond Index. All while having a life beyond investing and sleeping soundly. \nA professional money manager will charge 0.75% to 1.5% of your assets to manage a $500\,000 account\, but is not interested in managing lesser amounts. Robo-advisors charge 0.08% to 1.5% depending on account size and services to manage your account and can manage accounts as small as $100. \nThe methods discussed require only a computer\, no specialized investing knowledge\, average intelligence\, access to the internet\, and the self-discipline to follow proven methods.
