SUMMARY:Holding Space for the Heart: A Grief Yoga Workshop (Dec 8th)
DESCRIPTION:Holding Space for the Heart\nA Grief Yoga Workshop for the Holiday Season\nCost: $45.00 – half of the proceeds to benefit the Community Center. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nGrief during the holidays can feel especially heavy — like the world is celebrating while your heart is quietly aching. This workshop is a place where you don’t have to hide that pain. It’s a safe space to be with what’s real\, to becomes aware of your emotions\, to move gently through them\, and to remember: you are not alone. \nHolding Space for the Heart is a two-hour Grief Yoga® experience rooted in breath\, movement\, sound\, and stillness — designed to help you soften into your grief\, release what you’re carrying\, and open your heart to connection\, love\, and inner strength. \nGrief Yoga®\, developed by Paul Denniston\, is a healing modality\, not about physical flexibility\, but about emotional liberation. Grief Yoga is for anyone navigating loss\, change\, or heartbreak\, and it welcomes all bodies and levels of experience. \nDuring our time together\, you’ll be invited to:\n~ Begin with a brief guided journaling session (journal provided)\n~ Learn how Grief Yoga works to support emotional release and resilience\n~ Move through a 60-minute Grief Yoga practice using breath\, movement and sound\n~ Rest in a short\, guided meditation to ground and restore\n~ Share\, reflect\, or simply listen during an optional closing circle \nNo yoga experience is necessary. Practice may be done on a yoga mat or in a chair. All bodies\, all emotions\, and all experiences of grief are welcome. \n  \nUrsula Daiber\, 500 RYT + 100 RYT Grief Yoga\, discovered yoga in 2011 as a break from high-energy fitness classes\, unaware it would become a profound part of her healing journey. Diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer in December 2003\, Ursula had already been on a spiritual path when yoga entered her life. She completed her 200-hour teacher training in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic\, and her 300-hour vinyasa training with Rolf Gates at beYOGA Danbury in 2023. Together\, these certifications earned her the 500-hour RYT designation through Yoga Alliance. After losing both of her parents during her 300-hour training\, Ursula deepened her healing work through Grief Yoga®. She completed a 100-hour certification with Grief Yoga® founder Paul Denniston and now offers monthly Grief Yoga® classes and\nspecialized workshops designed to support individuals navigating loss. Her teaching emphasizes compassion\, presence\, and creates a safe space for emotional release and connection through movement\, breath\, and sound. In addition to her grief-focused offerings\, Ursula teaches weekly yoga classes for employees and volunteers at Middlesex Health in Middletown. She also offers private\, semi-private\, group\, and corporate sessions. \nTo learn more or to schedule a session\, you can reach her at ursuladaiber@aol.com

SUMMARY:Baking with Puff Pastry
DESCRIPTION:Cooking class with Chef Charlene Dutka of Ciesco Catering. \n  \nCharlene Goodman Dutka lives in Goshen with her husband Ed\, youngest son Matthew\, and three rescue dogs. She was born and raised in Torrington in an Italian-American family. Her grandmother prepared food with love\, often using ingredients from her grandfather’s garden. \nCharlene started collecting cookbooks and reading them like novels at a young age. When time allowed\, she continually experimented in the kitchen while pursuing her corporate career and raising four children. \nOver ten years ago\, Charlene took a leap of faith to open Ciesco Catering\, which was named in honor of her maternal grandparents. Like her grandmother\, Charlene prepares food with love. \nDenise Pastore Ciesco lives in North Granby with her husband\, Gary\, and their two horses. She was born in Torrington and raised in an Italian-American family\, relocating to Italy with her family as a teenager. Denise immersed herself in Italian culture while celebrating traditional American Holidays with family and friends. The consummate hostess\, Denise’s dinners were always famous among anyone who knew her. \nWhen Denise’s two children were grown\, she and her former spouse\, who was in the construction business\, built and owned a resort with two restaurants. Denise would ask her world-renowned chefs for tips and ideas and continues incorporating this knowledge into her recipes. \nDenise and Charlene met shortly after the catering company opened through Charlene’s cousin\, Denise’s husband. They are cousins in every way possible. Together\, they create unique menu items while having fun—sometimes too much fun with a dash of mischief. \nClick here to Register
