An Evening with Johannes Brahms

Pianist Joseph Jacovino and clarinetist Vincent de Luise will perform selections from Brahms’ Lieder and the piano Rhapsodies, and a Brahms chamber music masterpiece for clarinet and piano.

Johannes Brahms was a fascinating and complex musical genius. His compositions represent the peak of romanticism, and yet were also inspired by the classical works of Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn.  Brahms was intensely private and reserved, expressing his emotions through music.

Brahms’ Songs (Lieder) and chamber music are wondrous excursions into his feelings for the friends he admired and the women he loved.
