Alyce Cognetta Bertz is the concertmaster of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra. She studied violin with Syoko Aki of the Yale School of Music and with Charles Tregor of the Hartt School of Music.
Alyce, has studied chamber music with the Cleveland Quartet, the Julliard Quartet and Joseph Gingold. When in high school she performed in Vienna , Austria at the world premier of Leonard Bernstein's "Mass". She has performed concerts at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Mexico (La Philarmonica de las Americas), The Blossom Music Festival in Ohio, and The Waterloo Music Festival with members of the New York Philharmonic.
Alyce Cognetta Bertz has been violin soloist on WQXR in New York. She has appeared as soloist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Hartt Symphony Orchestra and on numerous occasions with the Waterbury Symphony.
Chamber music performances include: Cape Cod Summer Music Festival in Chatham, The Kosciuszko Foundation in New York City, Wolcott Classic Series, Whaling Church Classical Series in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, Woodbury Chamber Music Series, Solo recitals at Geneva Opera House in New York.
Alyce resides in Southbury with her husband, Gary.
and enjoys running and swimming. Alyce teaches privately in her own studio which is a geodesic dome.

Joseph Jacovino holds degrees from the Hartt College of Music (B.Music, Piano Performance) and the Manhattan School of Music (M.Music Education).
He retired in 2014 after 35 years as the Director of Music at Holy Cross High School, Waterbury, where he taught music theory and directed the concert band, jazz band, piano class, guitar and string ensembles, handbell choir, and the orchestras for spring musicals.
He has been the Music Director at St. Rose of Lima RC Church in Newtown for the past 21 years. In summer of 2005 he led a 50 voice choir on a musical pilgrimage to Italy. The itinerary included one concert each in Rome and Florence, performance of a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and an audience with Pope Benedict XVI. During the summer of 2016 he travelled with members of the Waterbury Chorale on a performance tour of Ireland & Scotland.
Mr. Jacovino has been the Music Director/Conductor of the Waterbury Chorale since 2005. He is also the accompanist for the Connecticut Master Chorale, and the Heritage Singers of Southbury. He has performed extensively as an accompanist throughout Connecticut for various choral groups and for Connecticut Music Educators Association festivals. He has been musical director/conductor for over 30 musicals involving school and community theatre groups. He has appeared on numerous occasions as organist and pianist in both classical and jazz styles and has been an active soloist throughout Connecticut.
