A Message from our Board President, Brian McCormick

I was privileged to be a part of the original group that in 1998 formed a non-profit entity with the mission to build the Litchfield Community Center. Among this group remain two constants, Berta Andrulis Mette, who we persuaded to step down as Board President to become the Center’s first Executive Director and Sunny Seherr-Thoss whose legacy to Litchfield is immeasurable and whose imprint on the Center is indelible. The founders had a Field of Dreams belief that “IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME.” Since opening in July 2000 we have not been disappointed! Within 4 years due to program demands we expanded and built the Learning Center addition.
In 2012 I rejoined the Board. Once again due to the demand for program space, the Board approved a second building expansion and launched a successful capital campaign to add the "Community Room” which has increased the Center’s ability to serve the interests of our community.
Thanks to the vision of our original founders, the leadership and welcoming spirit of Berta Andrulis Mette and her staff, the generosity and legacy of Sunny Seherr-Thoss, all of our donors and supporters and the positive response of the community to the programs, offerings and activities that fill our calendar, the Center has become the “Go To” place in town.
We hope that you will come and enjoy your Community Center and that you will share your suggestions and ideas so that the Center continues to reflect the interests of residents of all ages and the best Litchfield has to offer.

Brian McCormick
