mammals, crocodiles, butterflies, herpetofauna, forest structure, and jungle survival strategies. Students forged relationship with researchers from all over Europe and Central and South American, shared rice and bean meals, and international football matches in a jungle clearing. They explored ancient Mayan civilization ruins overgrown with jungle and teaming with monkeys. In their second week they trained for and earned PADI scuba diving certification and dove in the coral reefs on the Akumal coast. They studied reef ecology and sea turtles.
